Rants & Rambles – June Report

According to AI:

June 2024 was a month of significant growth and engagement for the Facebook group, marked by a substantial increase in new members and high levels of interaction. The trends suggest that the group is on a positive trajectory, with increasing member participation and content consumption over time.

Overall summary of user activity for June

Pride month was a very contentious month that brought lots of conversation around the history and current state of affairs for Pride. While the number of posts/comments per day remained stable, a sharp increase to 24.43 members per day was noted (compared to 14.78 in May).

The amount of views & reactions continued to rise indicating increased interaction with posts within the group.

The group remains predominately comprised of people from Amherst & Nova Scotia with a slight increase in the ratio of New Brunswickers’ tuning into our group.

A noticeable surge of new members was experienced in June, mostly in the later part of the month and a slight increase in daily views/posts/comments/reactions.

Moderation

We’ve paused documenting moderator actions. Being as open & transparent as we’ve been has become very challenging as the quantity of content becomes increasingly more. Even with established processes (screenshots of all denied posts & tagging with relevant data for trending) there’s still quite a bit of manual intervention logging moderation actions due to data retention policies by Facebook.

This isn’t us giving up on this transparency, but it’s become too much for one volunteer who is already pulled in a million other directions. We’ve put the ask out for volunteers and have had little to no succes so now we’re investigating ways to generate income so we can pay for someone to take over the processes we’ve built. If we can raise funds for that, this segment will resume.

If you have any suggestions or ideas on how to do this, please contact us at contact@amherstshares.ca

Part of this strategy involves viewers like you who are reading this content, to create an account on this website. It’s free and will immediately give you access to content we do not post on Facebook. Eventually, this content will require a paid subscription once we feel the value warrants it. But for now it will be free for anyone interested in following the Amherst Shares & Rants and Rambles journey.
